QUESTION???
ReplyDeleteI have a direct quote from the California Employment Development Department website that was confusing and potentially VERY disturbing.
"Although the new extensions do provide the potential for up to 20 additional weeks of benefits for higher unemployment states, including California, it's likely six weeks of those benefits WON'T BE AVAILABLE due to pending federal filing deadlines at the end of the year."
Can anyone provide further insight to the above official commentary from the California Unemployment Benefits Office???
Thanks,
New York is saying the same thing. We are looking for more info on this. Not all states are reading the language the same way, but it appears that there are a few states. The good news is that the wording isnt different for each state, the bill is the same for every state that has 3 months of 8.5% and higher.
ReplyDeleteAlley,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, when you hear something definitive please post.
California Filling problem

Califonians, Please contact State Gov, Senator&Assembly members
From California EDD web page:
Update:
The new extentions do add a total of 14 more weeks of benefits available to those who have
run out of all available benefits, or could do so by the end of the year. There is also the potential for six more weeks of benefits being added for a total of 20 weeks if congress takes further action and extends filing deadlines beyond the end of the year.
Nov. 6th till Nov. 8th, It said, roughly:
It is unlikley that anyone in California would qualify for the additional six weeks due to filling deadlines.
My state senators office replied they were looking into this and perhaps it is due to Californias EDD requires some time to update its system to reflect the new extension.
Sound like California can't handle anything, and will place many unemployed at a disadvatage!
I say turn up the heat! eMail your reps, and the Gov.
