The House on C-Span

Good Morning!

Wow, One Minute Speeches, you gotta love it after listening to weeks and weeks of the same things being said over and over again for hours at a time.

So, today looks like the day! right?

    Well, it's on the calendar (see previous post) and so far 2 reps have referenced "today's vote on UB"

    Does anyone know if/where Obama's schedule is posted?

    I don't think he's scheduled to go anywhere until the 12th and 13th but I'm not totally sure on that. Rumor has it that he will sign by tomorrow some time......

    Obama can sign this document ANYWHERE in the world he is. AirForce One is fully equipped and he can sign it anywhere at any time.

    We'll see how fast Obama moves once he gets it.

    Yes Jen, he CAN sign it anywhere, but I think (and it is just a feeling) that his being in DC will make it move along faster.

    Let's not bash Obama today! Let's be thankful the Senate finally passed the bill yesterday and that it is moving quickly in the House. It will get signed this week.

    We are all hurting here, some of us are being tossed into the streets and some will have to do the dreadful "move back in with the folks deal" (I wish I could move back home with my parents, but in order to do that I need a pine box). Whatever the case may be, we are all facing things we never thought would happen to us. It's NOT Obama's fault! He didn't create the mess he inherited the mess and has worked hard to fix things for all of us. But multi-tasking abilities only go so far and since it is hind-sight that is 20-20 and not foresight, and I am pretty sure he is not working with a crystal ball, he deals with issues as they arise. That said, it's not like there are one or two things happening that need attention, this country is and has been for a lot longer than he has been in office, been spiraling out of control. There is a lot to do and there is nothing that one man can do on his own. He is part of a team and not all the team players have the same goals. So, for today, let's be thankful that we have gotten this far and that we didn't have to wait even longer. Let's focus on the good, just for today, and tomorrow may be an even better day!

    How long are we going to say he inherited this mess and let him stand on his own 2 feet. After he is out of office. That line has been going on for almost a year, it's getting old...sorry couldn't resist. I will not comment on that subject again, at least today :)

    please help everyone...alley you there...i became unemployed on
    02-01-08 and received my last unemployement check on 08-30-09 from the fed-ed extention i got 79 weeks will i qualify for this extention..thanks in advance for you help:)

    Can anyone explain why it took more than a month for the Senate to pass this bill, when it passed 98-0??

    I don't think anyone was Obama bashing *shrug*

    But I do agree, he can only stand behind the "inherited" thing so long, and yes he has a lot of other things going on, but I do personally wish he had been a bit more vocal on the issues of unemployment & lack of jobs. Seems he is just now really starting to put a team together about jobs - I could have told him last year he needed to do that.

    So while I love him as a President, and am grateful for him particularly after the Bush Era, I hope he does something a bit more proactive about the job situation - millions of jobs are not going to materialize over a few tax breaks.

    To say I don't think he handled this perfectly, and I hope he does things differently going forward, isn't bashing him. It is expressing a very real concern about how fast 14/20 weeks will fly by, and that something BIG needs to be done between now and then to get people back to work.

    You want my OPINION on why it took so long?

    I think the Republicans are slick & savvy enough to be thinking about 2010 elections, and their best hope of regaining seats is to make tis 111th Congress look as ineffective as possible - so in 10 months time we will be hearing about how "even with a majority, they got very little accomplished"

    This isn't new legislation requiring debate is it or just a reference to where the bill is on their schedule?

    Hope everyone is having a good post-vote day! I keep telling myself, we've made it this far, just a little longer...

    Thank you to all who brought us such helpful information. This site has been a much needed source of support through all of this. Can't say it enough!
